On Thursday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina asked the administration to take comprehensive action against rape and to increase public consciousness of such incidents in society.

To resist such cases of rape, we will have to take comprehensive action. It really needs to generate public awareness, too,' she said.

In the morning, through a video conference from her official residence in Ganabhaban, the Prime Minister virtually addressed the closing ceremony of the 70th Foundation Training Course for new framework service officers.

The Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre (BPATC) in Savar and the offices of seven divisional commissioners were linked to the participants.

Sheikh Hasina said the Women and Children Repression Prevention (Amendment ) Act 2000 has been amended by the government and an order to check rape incidents has already been enforced.

She said the cases of rape that occur these days are massively propagated. "The more it is propagated, the more it increases its prevalence," she said.

The welcoming speech was delivered by Public Administration Secretary Shaikh Yusuf Harun, while BPATC Rector Md Rakib Hossain addressed the outcome of the six-month foundation training course to the Prime Minister.
