Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Minister of Home Affairs, said that anyone involved in beating up a Navy officer would face legal action.

While speaking to journalists at his Dhanmondi residence in the capital on Monday, he came up with the comment.

Earlier, Wasif filed a case with the Dhanmondi Police Station naming four defendants, including 37-year-old Irfan Selim, and two to three unidentified individuals for Sunday night's attack on him and his wife.

AB Siddique Dipu, 45, Md Zahid, 35, and Md Mizanur Rahman, 30, are the three other named defendants.

A private car struck Lt Wasif's motorcycle in Dhanmondi, according to the case statement, as they were heading to Dhaka Cantonment from Nilkhet at around 7:45pm.

Some people got out of the car and insulted him and his wife verbally and left the place.

Lt Wasif knocked on the window of the car and introduced himself when the car stopped at a nearby signal, after which the passengers got out of the car again.
They assaulted Lt Wasif physically and went away instantly, leaving the car behind, said the case statement.

On duty, Lt Wasif was rescued by police and the driver was arrested along with the vehicle.
