In a case filed for beating a man named Shaidunnabi Jewel to death and setting his body on fire at Burimari in the district on charges of hurting religious sentiments, a court in Lalmonirhat granted a five-day remand for Mosque muezzin Afizuddin.

After police created Afiz with a five-day remand prayer on Sunday at noon, senior judicial magistrate Ferdousi Begum granted the remand prayer.

Earlier on Saturday, before the court, the investigating officer (IO) of the case and police inspector of the police detective branch (DB) produced muezzin Afiz and requested remand for five days. However the court has scheduled a hearing on Sunday (today).

Muazzin Afiz is a son of Faimuddin of Lalmonirhat's Islampur upazila of Patgram upazila and serves as the central mosque muezzin of Burimary.
