Bangladesh Mahila Parishad president Ayesha Khanam dies

Ayesha Khanam, President of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad, died at a hospital in the city early Saturday. She was 74.   Ayesha, also a freedom fighter, breathed her last while undergoing treatment at the hospital. She had been suffering from various diseases including cancer.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed deep sock and sorrow at the death of Ayesha Khanam.

In a condolence message, she said that the  womenfolk of the country lost a true friend and courageous co-fighter at the  death of this woman leader.

The Prime Minister prayed for the eternal salvation of the departed soul and expressed sympathy to the bereaved family.

Besides, Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen and Environment, Forests and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin expressed profound shock at her demise.
