95.21pc COVID-19 patients recover in Rangpur division

Some 95.21 percent coronavirus (COVID-19) infected patients have recovered in Rangpur division where infection rate continues declining during the last seven weeks.

“A total of 14,995 coronavirus patients out total 15,749 have healed so far at the average recovery rate of 95.21 percent in the division,” Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS today.

Since the beginning, a total of 1,02,518 collected samples of Rangpur division were tested till Tuesday, and of them, 15,749 were found COVID-19 positive with an average infection rate of 15.36 percent. Meanwhile, seven more coronavirus infected patients recovered on Tuesday raising their total number to 14,995 in the division.

“The 14,995 recovered patients include 3,620 of Rangpur, 758 of Panchagarh, 1,294 of Nilphamari, 945 of Lalmonirhat, 970 of Kurigram, 1,427 of Thakurgaon, 4,559 of Dinajpur and 1,422 of Gaibandha districts,” he said.

On the other hand, only three new COVID-19 positive cases were reported after testing 188 collected samples with the daily infection rate of 1.60 percent on Tuesday raising the total number of patients to 15,749 in the division.

“The district-wise break up of the total 15,749 patients stands at 4,014 in Rangpur, 787 in Panchagarh, 1,325 in Nilphamari, 963 in Lalmonirhat, 1,011 in Kurigram, 1,506 in Thakurgaon, 4,685 in Dinajpur and 1,458 in Gaibandha districts,” Dr. Siddiqui added.

Talking to BSS today, Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Md. Ahad Ali said the daily COVID-19 infection rate remained below 10 percent amid increasing recovery rate during the last seven consecutive weeks in Rangpur division.

Earlier, the daily COVID-19 infection rates were 1.60 percent on Tuesday, 3.95 percent on Monday, 1.46 percent on Sunday, 5.41 percent on Saturday, 5.85 percent on Friday and 5.85 percent on Thursday last in the division.

“The number of fatalities remained steady at 304 with no more deaths reported from anywhere in the division on Tuesday,” he said.

The district-wise break up of the 304 fatalities stands at 71 in Rangpur, 110 in Dinajpur, 33 in Thakurgaon, 27 in Nilphamari, 15 in Kurigram, 20 in Panchagarh, 17 in Gaibandha and 11 in Lalmonirhat districts of the division,” he said. The average casualty rate currently stands at 1.93 percent in the division.

“Among the total 15,749 COVID-19 infected patients, 20 are undergoing treatments at isolation units after recovery of 14,995 patients and 304 deaths while 430 remaining in home isolations across the division,” Dr. Ali added.

Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu said the infection rate continues declining in recent times bringing relief to people in Rangpur division.
