Blogger Abhijit murder case verdict today

The verdict in the murder case of writer and founder of Muktamana blog Abhijit Roy will be announced on Tuesday (February 16). Judge Mojibur Rahman of Dhaka’s Anti-Terrorism Special Tribunal set February 4 as the date for the verdict.

Prosecutor Ghulam Sarwar Khan said the three accused in the case had given statements under section 164. All the details of how they killed Abhijit are in the statement. All in all, I have brought to the notice of the court that these accused were involved in the murder. We have demanded the death penalty for the accused.

According to the case, Blogger and Writer Abhijit Roy was hacked and injured by terrorists near Suhrawardy Udyan in the TSC area of ​​Dhaka University on February 26, 2015, at around 9:15 pm. He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at around 10:30 pm.

On February 27, Abhijit's father, educationist Ajay Roy, filed a murder case with the Shahbag police station. On March 13, 2019, Monirul Islam, an inspector of the Counter Terrorism Unit of the police, filed a charge sheet against the six in the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate's Court. 34 people were made witnesses in the case.

April 11, Dhaka Anti-Terrorism Special Tribunal Judge Mojibur Rahman accepted the charge sheet against six accused. On August 1, the judge framed charges against the accused and ordered the trial to begin.
