4,10,480 people vaccinated so far in Rajshahi division

A total of 4,10,480 people have been vaccinated for Covid-19 in all eight districts of the Rajshahi division till Monday last since the district-level vaccination began on February 7.

Of those, 12,807 people were vaccinated yesterday, said Dr. Habibul Ahsan Talukder, Divisional Director of the Directorate General of Health Services.

He also said 1,937 people including 771 females received vaccines in Rajshahi, 1,174 including 375 females in Chapainawabganj, 1,111 including 364 females in Natore, 1,862 including 739 females in Naogaon, 1,628 including 613 females in Pabna, 1,534 including 594 females in Sirajganj, 2,234 including 826 females in Bogura, 587 including 178 females in Joypurhat and 740 including 322 females in Rajshahi city yesterday.

Covid-19 vaccination is going on successfully in the division as the public, in general, is seen receiving vaccines spontaneously.

“We have received a total of 7.20 lakh doses of Covid-19 vaccine for all the eight districts of Rajshahi division,” said Dr. Habibul Ahsan Talukder, adding health workers from civil surgeons to the field level staff was given special training on how to administer Covid-19 vaccines.

The vaccination program is being carried at all the “Covid-19 Vaccine Centres” in eight districts of the division since Sunday last simultaneously.

Meanwhile, grassroots people are getting Covid-19 response services because many non-government organizations concerned are working relentlessly side by side with the government organizations.

They are now seen working closely to make sure the people sign up for Covid-19 vaccination to supplement the government efforts of bringing all the targeted people under inoculation.

“We have set up special booths for registration at many Union and Upazila level facilities for the welfare of the grassroots people,” said Tozammel Haque, Manager of Public Health Improvement Initiative Rajshahi (PHIIR) project.

Some 50 community volunteers are expediting vaccination activities along with government efforts in five Upazilas of Rajshahi and Naogaon districts.

The PHIIR project is being implemented in 110 community clinics, 42 Union Health and Family Welfare Centres, and five Upazila Health Complexes in the two districts with the financial support of the Swiss Red Cross in order to improve health status at primary health care and mother, neonatal, and child health.

It has responded to government calls for support and still besides ensuring basic services like water supply, hand washing station, orientation on covid 19 infections, prevention and control.

Efforts were also given to increase compliance with Covid-19 protection measures at the health facility by motivating clients to wear masks besides maintaining other health protection measures.
