Committee to investigate the fire in the seven-storey slum of Mohakhali

Hundreds of houses were gutted in a fire that broke out in the seven-story slum of Mohakhali in the capital at around 4 am on Monday. About three hours later, the fire was brought under control at around 6.45 am. No casualties were reported in the blaze.

A committee has been formed to investigate the fire, with Nur Hasan Ahmed, deputy director of the fire service, as chairman. Director-General of Fire Service and Civil Defense Brigadier General. Sajjad Hossain said the fire could have been caused by an illegal gas line or a fault in the power line. The actual facts will be known after receiving the investigation report. The fire was completely extinguished at 9:15 in the morning.

Witnesses say more than two hundred houses were gutted in the blaze. Homeless people have crowded the streets. They lost everything in the fire.

Kamrul Hasan, a fire service control room official, said earlier that the fire started around 4 am. 18 units of fire service work in fire control.
