Indonesian envoy pays farewell call on President

Ambassador of Indonesia to Bangladesh Rina P. Soemarno paid a farewell call on President M Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban here this evening.

During the meeting, the President thanked the outgoing envoy for successful completion of her tenure in Bangladesh, President’s press secretary Md Joynal Abedin told BSS.

Referring to the visit of Indonesian president to Bangladesh in 2018 and earlier the visit of Bangladesh prime minister to Indonesia in 2017, President Hamid said the  visits have opened up a new horizon  in the bilateral ties between the two states.

The continuation of this relation would have a positive impact on trade and investment between the two states in days to come, he added.

Terming Indonesia as one of the countries that recognized Bangladesh soon after independence, the head of the state said the existing bilateral relations of two countries would reach to new height on the eve of the 50-year of the existing excellent relations right now.

The outgoing Ambassador thanked the Government of Bangladesh on behalf of Indonesia for sending medicines from Bangladesh in the COVID-19 (Coronavirus)  pandemic.

Rina thanked the President for his overall cooperation during her assignment in Bangladesh.

President Secretary Sampad Barua, Military Secretary Major General SM Salah Uddin Islam, Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin and Secretary (Attachment) Wahidul Islam Khan were present there.
