The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) today stayed a High Court order, allowing bail to one Abdul Malek, accused in the case lodged over murder of journalist Borhan Uddin Muzakkir in Noakhali.
The Appellate Division bench headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain passed the order after holding hearing on a state plea, challenging the High Court order.
Muzakkir, local correspondent of the online news portal Bartabazar, and Companiganj correspondent for The Daily Bangladesh Samachar, got shot while trying to collect news as two factions of local Awami League engaged in fight in Chaprashirhat Bazar under Companiganj upazila in Noakhali on February 19, 2021.
Next day, he succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Muzakkir's father filed the case against unidentified culprits on February 23 and now Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) is investigating the case.
