ACC files 4 cases against four persons including former ward councilor in Ctg

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed four separate cases against four persons, including former ward councilor FI Kabir Ahmed Manik.
ACC assistant director Abu Sayed filed the cases against them on Tuesday, with Chattogram coordinated District Office-1, for embezzling a total of Taka one crore 46 lakh 8 thousand.
The four accused are- former councilor FI Kabir Ahmed Manik, Jago Foundation project director Faisal Siddiqui, former president of Lalkhan Bazar Central Jame Mosque Kazi Mahmud Imam Bilu and its general secretary AN Faruk Ahmed.
According to ACC sources, the first case was filed against -- former councilor of Chattogram City Corporation FI Kabir Ahmed Manik -- for embezzling Tk 45.36 lakh realized as rent by digging a pond and constructing a house on a government land by cutting hill.
In the second case, FI Kabir Ahmed Manik, Kazi Mahmud Imam Bilu and AN Faruk were charged with embezzling Tk 45 lakh by allotting shops.
They were also accused in a third case for embezzling Tk 29.40 lakh by constructing a CDA market without approval, occupying a government primary school land.
Besides, the ACC has filed a fourth case against Faisal Siddiqui, project director of Manik and Jago Foundation, for embezzling Tk 26 lakh 11 thousand.
Lutful Kabir Chandan, deputy director of ACC Chattogram office-1, told BSS that the four accused had misappropriated Tk 1.46 crore by abusing their respective power.
