Speakers for learning from Bangabandhu's life to take Bangladesh forward

Speakers at an event have laid emphasis on learning from Bangabandhu's life philosophy to take the country forward.

They made the observation at the second day of the 16-day gala celebration "Bijoye 50 Bochhor: Laal Shobujer Mohotshob", organised by Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), said a press release.

The event was held at the amphitheater adjacent to Hatirjheel in the capital on Thursday, said a press release today.

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni attended the function as the chief guest while Prime Minister's Private Industry and Investment Adviser Salman Fazlur Rahman was present as the special guest.

FBCCI President Md Jashim Uddin delivered the welcome speech while former president of FBCCI Mahbubur Rahman attended the function as the guest of honour.

In her speech, Dr Dipu Moni said that 2021 is the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh, the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the 75th birth anniversary of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

This is a significant year for Bangladesh in all respects and at that time, the children took an oath to form themselves in the light of patriotism, she added.

Salman F Rahman said the 50 years of independence was a great event for a nation. So, private sector decided to celebrate this gala ceremony under the apex trade body FBCCI, he added.

Md Jashim Uddin said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman enacted the 'Child Rights Act' even before the United Nations (UN).

"UN declared the convention on the rights of the child in 1989. Fifteen years ago, Bangabandhu enacted the Child Rights Act in 1974 to protect children and ensure their rights," he said. Keeping in mind that children are the future of the future in building the future of newly independent Bangladesh, Jashim Uddin said Bangabandhu gave importance to protect the rights of children.

Due to Bangabandhu's far-reaching thoughts, the children of that time have become the guides to take today's Bangladesh forward, he added.

He mentioned that today's children also need to learn from Bangabandhu's life philosophy, love the country and prepare to take the country forward.

The FBCCI President said that the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina is determined to build a better future for the children following the path of Bangabandhu.

"As part of the initiative, she has launched free textbooks and free education programs across the country," he added.

Mahbubur Rahman said that adults have a responsibility to create a conducive environment for children to become ideal citizens. In his speech, Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Md Atiqul Islam said that 24 parks are being set up in DNCC which will remain open for children and teenagers.
