Archives are 'storehouse’ of country’s history: Khalid

State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid today said the archive are the storehouse of the country's history and heritage.

“The archives are the storehouse of the country's history and heritage. The archives are the reliable sources of memories and information,” he said. 

He was speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of training courses on 'Advanced Archival Record Management' and 'Basic Course on Modern Library Management' organized by the Department of Archives and Library at the National Library Auditorium in city’s Agargaon area, a press release said.

Archives are one of the most important resources of a state as all the important data is stored here, he said.

He added that the archive plays a vital role in the development of society by preserving the memory of individuals and groups, the release added.

With Department of Archives and Library Director General Farid Ahmed Bhuiyan in the chair, the programme was attended, among others, by Registrar of Bangladesh Copyright Office Zafar Raja Chowdhury as special guest.

Department of Archives and Library Director Sujayet Ullah and Department of Archives and Library (Library and Finance Management) Abu Daud Miah were also present on the occasion.
