Hanif demands posthumous trial of Zia

Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif yesterday demanded posthumous trial of Ziaur Rahman for his alleged involved in the gruesome assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

"Ziaur Rahman has been identified as the planner of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's murder," he told a press briefing at Awami League President's political office at Dhanmondi here.

Hanif said the country now witnesses a growing public demand for Ziaur Rahman's posthumous trial as a mastermind of the August 15, 1975 carnage alongside return of the fugitive convicts of the Bangabandhu murder trial to be exposed to justice.

The press conference also was attended, among others, by Joint General Secretaries of the Awami League Dr Dipu Moni and Abdur Rahman, Organising Secretaries Ahmad Hossen, AKM Enamul Haq Shamim, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, and Muhibul Hasan Chowdhury Nawfel, Office Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, Information and Research Secretary Advocate Afzal Hossain and Agriculture and Cooperative Secretary Faridun Nahar Laily.
