None would be spared for Nasirnagar attack: Hanif

Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul Alam Hanif today categorically said the culprits involved in the attack on the Hindu community as well as the instigators of the incident at Nasirnagar in Brahmanbaria, would not be spared. 

"The offenders and instigators must be brought to justice and given exemplary punishment ... we don't want to see recurrence of such kind of attack," he said, urging authorities concerned to take stern actions against the criminals. 

The AL leader was addressing as the chief guest a discussion at Dhaka University RC Majumder Arts Auditorium. Bangabandhu Shikkha o Gobeshona Parishad (BSGP) arranged the discussion marking the Jail Killing Day. 

Hanif called upon the party leaders and workers to remain beside the victims at Nasirnagar and stay alert so that none can provoke the incident anymore. He said the defeated forces of the 1971 Liberation War had assassinated Bangabandhu on August 15, 1975 and later killed four national leaders inside jail the same year to legitimize the August 15 carnage. 

"Assassination of Bangabandhu was a revenge of the 1971 defeated forces who could not accept the independence of Bangladesh. In continuation of it, they brutally killed four national leaders on November 3 in 1975 inside the safe place of Dhaka Central Jail," he said. 

BSGP President and Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique chaired the function while Awami League Organising Secretary Enamul Haque Shamim addressed it as the chief discussant.

Bangladesh Bar Council Vice-Chairman Abdul Baset Majumder, Awami League Relief and Social Welfare Affairs Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi and BSGP General Secretary Professor Sirajul Haque Alo, among others, took part in the discussion.

Hanif said after the assassination of Bangabandhu, the four national leaders were allured to join the cabinet of traitor Khondaker Mostaq Ahmad.

"But the four national leaders refused the offer of Mostaq as they had firm trust in Bangabandhu. For that reason, the four national leaders were killed under an orchestrated plot to thwart the spirit of the Liberation War," he said.

The AL joint secretary said though the then jail authorities filed First Information Report (FIR), it did not see the light as military dictator Ziaur Rahman was involved in the assassination of Bangabandhu and four national leaders' killing inside the jail.

Hanif said BNP claims November 7 as the National Revolution and Solidarity Day but in true sense, there should have a spirit for being a revolution. 

"Rather November 7 should be observed as the 'Soldiers Killing Day' as around 1200 soldiers had been killed to cling to the power by Ziaur Rahman. So the day should be marked as the genocide day ... there was no struggle for any spirit," he added.

The AL leader said through the celebration of November 7, BNP wants to bring back the Pakistani ideology in the country and BNP still cannot come out of the Pakistani ideology.
