Govt to shut down low quality medical colleges, clinics

Health and family welfare minister Mohammad Nasim on Monday said the government will shut down the services of low quality medical colleges and clinics across the country.

“The process is underway to impose embargo on the services of low quality medical colleges and clinics,” he told a roundtable at the daily Prothom Alo office in city’s Kawran Bazaar area in Dhaka.

The Department of Health and the daily Prothom Alo arranged the programme.

State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Zahid Malik, State Minister for ICT Division Junayed Ahmed Palak, Director General of Health and Economic unit of Health Ministry Asadul Islam, Director General of Health Department Professor Abul Kalam Azad, among others, spoke on the occasion.

Nasim said the government is working to raise quality of the services of hospitals and clinics. Besides, the government is also working for maintaining quality of medical education system, said the minister.
