Student cabinet leaders vow to eliminate militancy

Newly elected student cabinet leaders here today vowed to eliminate terrorism and militancy from the country at any cost for establishing non-communal and peaceful society.

They also committed to build a hunger and poverty free 'Sonar Bangla' as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The commitment came at an orientation ceremony at the auditorium of Khulna Government High Schoolwhere a total of 798 elected leaders of 98 student cabinets in the city's schools took oath. 

Khulna Regional Secondary and Higher Secondary Department organized the orientation programme with headmaster of the school Farhana Naz was in the chair.

Parliament Member of Khulna-2 constituency Mizanur Rahman Mizan was present as the chief guest on the occasion while Director of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Department in Khulna Region T M Zakir Hossain conducted it.

Vice-Chancellor of Khulna University (KU) Professor Dr. Md. Fayequzzaman, Chairman of Khulna District Council Sheikh Harun-ur-Rashid spoke as special guests.

The chief guest said the present government under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken zero tolerance policy against militancy and terrorism.

He called upon the pro-liberation forces, professional and socio- cultural organization leaders and common people to resist militancy and conspiracies against the country. 

Students and teachers of city's different school, leaders of civil society, president of Khulna Union of Journalists(KUJ), General Secretary of city unit Chhatra League, district and upazila level education officers, among others, attended the function.

The student cabinet election of city's 98 schools was held on March 30, 2017, for the second time after the government made a decision to held student cabinet election from class six to ten across the country aiming to create student leadership.
