Hill slide cuts Sylhet rail link

Sylhet’s rail link with Dhaka and Chittagong snapped and remained halted following a hill slide in Moulvibazar’s Lawachara national park today.

A chunk of soil broke off and fell on the lines in Magurchara area of the park in Kamalganj upazila, said Tabibur Rahman, local assistant conservator of wildlife management and nature conservation department.

Three trains were stranded because of the incident – Kalni Express, Joyantika Express and Demu Express, said Jahangir Alom, Station Master of Srimangal Railway Station.

The trains left from Sylhet this morning and waiting to depart at Shamsher Nagar area last reported.
