Stocks witness slightly down

Country’s both the bourses– Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)– today closed downbeat due mainly to price fall in large-cap securities.

The broad index, DSEX settled at 5,511.36 points with a loss of 5.66 points or 0.10 percent. Besides, two selective indices, Blue Chip index, DSE30 and Shariah index, DSES also went down by 7.27 points and 6.96 points to settle at 2,116.05 points and 1,248.16 points respectively.

On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 1,71,580 trades were executed in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 11,598.31 million securities.

DSE’s turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Taka 11,598.31 million which was Taka 14,069.64 million in the previous session.

Losers took lead over gainers as out of 356 issues traded, 105 securities gained price while 180 declined and 71 remained unchanged. Beximco dominated the turnover board followed by LHBL, Robi, Lanka Bangla Finance and Beximco Pharma.

The top 10 gainers were Takaful Insurance, Sonar Bangla Insurance, Standard Insurance, Malek Spinning, Prime Insurance, HEIDELBCEM, Agrani Insurance, Premier Leasing, Nitol Insurance and Eastern Lubricant.

The top ten losers were Uttara Bank, Delta Spinning, ANLIMAYARN, MHSML, Zahin Tex, Fortune, LHBL, SP Ceramics, Al Haj Textile and ADNTEL.

On the other hand, port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed in red maintaining trend of previous session.

Selective categories index, CSCX and all shares price index, CASPI declined by 12.17 points and 19.27 points to stand at 9,622.57 points and 15,953.78 points respectively.

At CSE, a total of 18,258,786 share and mutual funds of 262 companies were traded, of which 48 issues advanced while 125 declined and 89 issues remained unchanged.
