PM to open newly built exhibition center at Purbachal tomorrow

Newly built ‘Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center’ at Purbachal will be inaugurated tomorrow.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is set to inaugurate the exhibition center virtually, Project Director (Joint Secretary) Mohammad Rezaul Karim told BSS today.

He said the exhibition centre is the permanent venue for different product-based fairs throughout the year.

Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) undertook the ‘Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center Construction Project’ in Purbachal New City Project Area which is jointly financed by Bangladesh and China, he added.

He mentioned that the ‘China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC)’ has built the exhibition centre on 20 acres of land area with a cost of Tk 1,303.50 crore, of which China has provided Tk 625.70 crore for the project.

He said the centre has 33,000 square metres of floor space, including an exhibition hall covering 15,418 square meters.

The modern exhibition centre has its own water treatment plant, CATV control room, WiFi system for internet, a modern fountain and remote-controlled entrance gate, he added.

He also informed that Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, Textile and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi, State Minister for Housing and Public Works Sharif Ahmed and senior officials of the government, among others, are expected to remain resent at the Purbachal New City Project Area.
