16 female students hospitalised for food poisoning in Rangpur

Sixteen residential female students of Tazhat Fatema (R) Girls Kawmi Madrasa in the city have been admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) this evening after they fell sick from food poisoning. 

Headmaster of the Madrasa Humayun Kabir told reporters that 56 residential female students of the institution continued fasting on the occasion of Holy Sab-E-Meraj on Wednesday and Thursday.

"All of the 56 female students ate boiled rice with 'sak' and 'alu bhorta' this morning and took boiled rice with chicken curry this noon," he said adding that 16 of them started vomiting along with severe headache since 5 pm today.

"Without any further delay, we admitted the sixteen sick female students to Ward No-9 under the Department of Pediatric at the RMCH," he added.

Talking to BSS at RMCH, Ailing students Sharmin, 15, of the Department of 'Kitab', Ankhi Moni, 15, and Parveen, 14, of the Department of 'Nurani' said they started experiencing headache and vomiting since taking lunch today. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Dr ATM Mahbubul Karim visited the ailing female madrasa students at RMCH, enquired about their health condition and treatment there tonight.

Assistant Registrar of the RMCH Dr Saidur Rahman Chowdhury told BSS tonight that all of the 16 female madrasa students are out of danger following proper treatments given to them at the hospital.
