Government scraps MCQs at primary level

The government has decided to discard Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) in the Primary Education Completion (PEC) exams from this year, said the director general of the National Academy for Primary Education on Tuesday.

The exams will have creative questions and will be competency-based instead, he said.

The academy has issued an order regarding this decision of the primary and mass education ministry on Monday. The DG confirmed the matter.

The new format will soon appear on the academy’s website, according to academy insiders.

This decision has not been received well by the parents and teachers as it comes three months after the beginning of the academic year.
