Two more private universities get approval

The government has given approval to two more private universities.

The universities are Bandarban University and Shah Makhdum Management University.

The Education Ministry issued separate notifications on Thursday in this regard.

Of them, Bandarban University is situated at the main road of Bandarban district town while Shah Makhdum Management University is in Rajshahi.

With this, the number of private universities in the country stands at 101.

State Minister for Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing has founded the Bandarban University while BM Shamsul Haque is the founder of Shah Makhdum Management University.

As per the notifications, the universities got temporary approval under section 35 and sub-sections 1 and 2 of section 7 of the Private University Act-2010 tagging 23 conditions.

Earlier on April 18, the government approved two other new private universities -- Khulna Khan Bahadur Ahsanullah University and Ahsania Mission Science and Technology University in Rajshahi.
