BCL announces panel for DUCSU polls

Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) student wing of ruling Awami League on Sunday announced its 25-member panel for the much-awaited Dhaka University Central Student Union (DUCSU) polls.

BCL president of DU unit Sonjit Chandra Das announced the names of the panel candidates at Madhur Canteen on the campus around 3:00pm.

BCL president Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon, general secretary Golam Rabbani and DU unit general secretary Md Saddam Hussain are going to compete for the top three posts as vice-president, general secretary and assistant general secretary respectively.

The nine other candidates of the BCL panel are freedom fighters affairs secretary Saad bin Kader, science and technology secretary Arif Ibn Ali, common room and cafeteria secretary BM Lipi Akter, international affairs secretary Shahrima Tanjima Arni, literature secretary Mazharul Kabir Showon, cultural secretary Shams E Noman, sports secretary Shakil Ahmed Tanvir, students transport secretary Rakib Hawlader, social service secretary Azizul Haque Sarker.

The 13 member candidates are Cibol Sangma, Nazrul Islam, Rakibul Hasan, Rakibul Islam Oitijjo, Tanvir Hasan Saikot, Raisa Naser, Sabrina Eti, Eshat Kashfia Ira, Nipu Islam Tanni, Haider Mohhamad Jitu, Tilottama Sikder, Zulfiker Alam Rasel and Mahmudul Hasan.

The DUCSU polls will be held for the first time in 28 years on 11 March. BCL candidates are heavily favored to sweep most of the positions based on the prevailing political context throughout the country and on university campuses.
