UGC holds meeting with teachers on draft recruitment guideline

The University Grants Commission (UGC) today held a meeting with the leaders of the Teachers' Association of public universities on the draft uniform guideline for recruitment, promotion and upgradation for the university teachers.

During discussion on the draft guideline, the association leaders observed that an identical guideline should be finalised soon to remove the discrepancy in the process of teachers' recruitment and their promotion and upgradation.

Following directive of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, a six-member committee with UGC Member Professor Dr. Mohammad Yousuf Ali Mollah as its convenor was formed to frame a uniform guideline for teachers of the public universities.

The meeting was told that the Commission would finalize the guideline after holding a number of meetings with vice-chancellors of public universities and leaders of teachers' association.

UGC Chairman Professor Abdul Mannan was present on the occasion as the chief guest while UGC member Professor Dr. Mohammad Yousuf Ali Mollah presided over the meeting.

UGC members Professor Dr. Dil Afroza Begum, Professor Dr. Md. Akhtar Hossain and Professor Dr. M. Shah Nowaz Ali and Additional Director of Public University Management Division, UGC Dr. Ferdous Zaman, among others were present on the occasion.
