PEC, Ebtadayee examinations begin

This year's Primary Education Completion (PEC) and Ebtedayee Examinations for the fifth graders began across the country on Sunday.

The two and a half hours tests started at 10:30 am and will end at 1:00 pm.

A total of 2,903,638 students registered to take the PEC and Ebtedayee examinations at 7,458 centres in country and eight centres abroad.

This year the number of examinees in PEC has dropped by 223,615 but the number of ebtedayee examinees increased by 30,983.

Last year, a total of 3,095,123 students took PEC and Ebtedayee examinations. Of the total, 11,81,300 boys and 13,71,967 girls will sit for the PEC examinations.

Of the total, 1,87,082 boys and 1,66,281 girls will sit for Ebtedayee terminal examinations.

In addition, 615 students will take part in the examinations from eight countries.

Children with special needs would be given extra 30 minutes. The examinations are scheduled to end on November 24.
