Mila’s husband sent to jail for assaulting her

Country’s popular pop singer Mila’s husband was arrested on charges of assaulting her physically and mentally.

Pervez Sanjary, also a pilot of US Bangla Airlines, was sent to jail on Friday, said Uttara police.

Earlier on Thursday, Mila filed a case with the Uttara (west) police station, claiming that Parvez tortured her for dowry.

Later, police arrested the accused on Thursday night, said Uttara (west) police station officer-in-charge Ali Hossain Khan on Friday night.

“Mila’s husband beat her up and broke one of her arms. She was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment,” he added.

“We sought remand for the accused but the court ordered to send him to jail. We’ll plea again on Sunday for his remand,” the OC added.

Investigation officer of the case sub-inspector (SI) Aminul Islam said, “Parvez was sued under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.”

According to the case statement, Mila was beaten by her husband on 3 October. Later, she was treated at DMCH.

The case statement also said Parvez took dowry of Tk 500,000 earlier and recently demanded Tk 1 million more as dowry.

The singer tied the knot with Parvez on 12 May 2017 at her Dhaka residence.
