Distant cautionary signal 1 continues at seaports

The maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted distant cautionary signal No. 1.

The depression over southeast bay and adjoining area moved slightly north-northwestwards over the same area (near lat 10.2°n and long 87.9°e) and was centred at 6:00 am Thursday about 1,400 kms southwest of Chittagong port, 1,330 kms southwest of Cox's Bazar port, 1,375 kms South/southwest of Mongla port and 1,335 kms south/southwest of Payra port.

It is likely to intensify further and move in a north-northwesterly direction, said a special bulletin of the Met office.

Maximum sustained wind speed within 44 kms of the depression centre is about 40 kph rising to 50 kph in gusts/squalls.

Sea will remain moderate near the depression centre.
All fishing boat and trawler over North Bay have been advised to proceed with caution.

They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.
