Met office forecasts cyclone this month

Bangladesh Meteorological Department says the country is likely to be hit by cyclones in the current October.

Director of Bangladesh Meteorological Department Shamsuddin Ahmed said: “One or two depressions may form over the Bay of Bengal in October, at least one of which likely turns into a cyclone.”

He also said: “River water may swell during this period, although it will stay below the danger level.”

Today’s synoptic situation: The axis of monsoon trough runs through Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across the central part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends up to Northwest Bay. Monsoon is less active over Bangladesh and weak over North Bay.

Forecast: Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at one or two places over Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country.

Temperature: Day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
