Cold wave hits Bangladesh as voters warm up for nat’l election

People of the country on the election day Sunday may have to experience the bite of cold as heavy to moderate spell of cold wave accompanied with dense fog is sweeping over the country, said a met office bulletin issued Saturday.

Severe cold wave is sweeping over the regions of Rajshahi, Panchagarh, Dinajpur, Kurigram and Chuadanga and it might continue till January 4 next year, it said.

Besides, mild to moderate cold wave is sweeping over Mymensingh, Dhaka and Barishal divisions and the rest part of Rangpur, Rajshahi and Khulna divisions and the regions of Sandwip, Sitakunda, Rangamati, Cumilla, Feni, Srimangal and it may continue.

The lowest temperature 5.2 degree Celsius was recorded in Rajarhat of Kurigram district.

Weather may remain dry with temporary partly cloudy sky over the country.

Light to moderate fog may occur at places over the country during late night to morning.
