Maritime ports asked to hoist signal 1

Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted distant cautionary signal no. 1 as the depression over equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining South Bay moved Northwestwards over the same area.
It was cantered at midnight last night (Friday ) about 2100 km South of Chattogram port, 2020 km south of Cox’s bazar port, 2105 km South of Mongla port and 2060 km south of payra port, said a met office bulletin.
It is likely to intensify further and move in a Northwesterly direction.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 44kms of the depression centre is about 40kph rising to 50kph in gusts/squalls.
Sea will remain moderate near the depression centre.
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay and deep sea have been advised to proceed with caution till further notice.
