The moderate heat wave, which was sweeping almost across the country, is likely to continue until Sunday.

The scorching summer heat has already made public life miserable in different places.

Mercury may exceed 40 degree Celsius in places over the country, especially in Rajshahi, Jashore or Chuadanga, said Ruhul Kuddus, a meteorologist of Bangladesh Meteorological Department.

The country’s maximum temperature was recorded 39.5 degrees Celsius in Rajshahi on Thursday.

Dhaka city experienced the maximum temperature of 35.8 degrees. It was 35.6 degrees on Wednesday.

The Met office recorded 38.8 degrees in Jashore and 39.2 degrees in Chuadanga on Thursday.

The moderate heat wave is sweeping over Khulna division and the regions of Faridpur, Madaripur, Gopalgonj, Rajshahi, Pabna and Naogaon and it may continue, the met office forecast.

Amid the stifling summertime temperatures, city-dwellers liked to stay indoors in daytime.

They were suggested avoiding sunbeams and using proper protection like sunglasses, umbrella and cap while going out in the heat of the day.

The scorching summer heat, which started last month, has been affecting the vast swathes of the country, resulting in heat-related sickness.

Many people, especially the elderly and children, were admitted to hospitals.

Physicians suggest that people drink plenty of fluids and remain cautious about taking food to prevent heat-related sickness.
