Light to moderate rain likely over some north-north-east and southern areas

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at one or two places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy fall at isolated places over the country.

Day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, said a met office release here today.

The low over South-east Jharkhand and adjoining area has become unimportant and merged with the monsoon area. The axis of the monsoon trough runs through Rajsthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal to Assam across the southern part of Bangladesh.

One of its associated troughs extends up to North Bay.

Monsoon is less active over Bangladesh and weak over North Bay.

The country's maximum temperature on Wednesday was recorded by 35.0 degrees Celsius jointly at Sylhet and Srimangal and the minimum temperature was recorded by 24.3 Tetulia.

Maximum rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6:00 am today was recorded by 38 millimeters (mm) at Khepupara.
