Under the global agreement called Covax facility, the global vaccine alliance Gavi is likely to provide Bangladesh with about 68 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine within 2021.

The disclosure came on Wednesday during a program coordinated by journalists at the Health Directorate.

The cost of each dose of the Gavi vaccine has been reported to be between US$1.62 and $2.

On July 9, 2020, Bangladesh sent Gavi an official Expression of Interest (EOI).

This volume of vaccine is in addition to the Oxford vaccines from Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd. of India's Serum Institute.

Top DGHS officials attended the session, chaired by Prof ABM Khurshid Alam, Director General of the Health Directorate.
