Covid-19 cases reach 97,147 with 76 afresh in Rajshahi division

Seventy-six more people were tested for Covid-19 positive in seven districts of the division on Saturday, taking the number of detection to 97,147 since the pandemic began in March last year.

However, the new daily infection figure is one of the ever-lowest in the last couple of weeks since the second wave hit the country around six months back. The previous day's positive cases were 51 here.

Meanwhile, a total of 186 more people were cured from Covid-19 in the division on the same day, taking the recovery cases to 92,532 so far.

The death toll reached 1,635, including 674 in Bogura, 304 in Rajshahi with 180 in its city, and 170 in Natore, as one fresh case of fatality was reported during the period, Dr Talukder added. However, the fatality figure is the ever-lowest since the second wave of pandemic hit the country around six months back.

Besides, all the positive cases for Covid-19 have, so far, been brought under treatment while 22,280 were kept in isolation units of different dedicated hospitals for institutional supervision. Of them, 18,527 have by now been released.

Meanwhile, 113 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 144 others were released from isolation during the same time.

Of the total new positive cases, the highest 20 were detected in Pabna, followed by 17 in Rajshahi, including 16 in its city, 14 in Bogura, 11 in Sirajganj, eight in Natore, four in Joypurhat, and two in Naogaon districts.

With the newly detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the total cases now stands at 27,563 in Rajshahi, including 22,209 in city, 5,559 in Chapainawabganj, 6,336 in Naogaon, 8,210 in Natore, 4,553 in Joypurhat, 21,258 in Bogura, 11,168 in Sirajganj and 12,500 in Pabna.

A total of 1,11,235 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10 last year to prevent the community transmission of the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19).

Of them, 1,07,988 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their 14-day quarantine.
