51,352 Covid-19 patients heal in Rangpur division

A total of 51,352 Covid-19 patients have healed so far with the recovery of 68 more people on Tuesday raising the average recovery rate to 93.85 percent in Rangpur division.

Health officials said the recovery rate of Covid-19 patients continues rising amid declining number of casualties and positivity rate during the last more than one and a half months in the division.

The 51,352 recovered patients include 10,667 of Rangpur, 3,424 Panchagarh, 4,285 of Nilphamari, 2,595 of Lalmonirhat, 4,480 of Kurigram, 6,921 of Thakurgaon, 14,200 of Dinajpur and 4,760 of Gaibandha districts in the division.

“Meanwhile, the number of Covid-19 cases reached 54,719 with the diagnosis of 44 fresh cases on Tuesday in the division,” Focal Person of the Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr ZA Siddiqui told BSSS today.

The 44 fresh Covid-19 cases were diagnosed after testing 754 newly collected samples at the positivity rate of 5.84 percent on Tuesday.

Earlier, the daily positivity rates were 5.95 percent on Monday, 7.06 percent on Sunday, 5.14 percent on Saturday, 7.39 percent on Friday, 3.36 percent on Thursday and 6.29 percent on Wednesday last in the division.

The district-wise break up of total 54,719 patients include 12,354 of Rangpur, 3,722 Panchagarh, 4,389 of Nilphamari, 2,726 of Lalmonirhat, 4,622 of Kurigram, 7,481 of Thakurgaon, 14,220 of Dinajpur and 4,760 of Gaibandha in the division. 

Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam today told BSS that a total of 2,75,364 collected samples were tested till Tuesday, and of them, 54,719 were found Covid-19 positive with an average positivity rate of 19.87 percent in the division.

“Since the beginning of the pandemic, the number of casualties reached 1,226 as one new death was reported from Dinajpur in the division during the last 24 hours ending at 8 am today,” he said.

The district-wise break up of the 1,226 fatalities stands at 291 in Rangpur, 80 in Panchagarh, 87 in Nilphamari, 66 in Lalmonirhat, 67 in Kurigram, 248 in Thakurgaon, 324 in Dinajpur and 63 in Gaibandha of the division.

“The average casualty rate currently stands at 2.24 percent in the division,” Dr Islam said.

Among the 54,719 patients, 130 are undergoing treatments at isolation units, including 14 critical patients at ICU beds and eight at High Dependency Unit beds, after recovery of 51,352 patients and 1,226 deaths while 2,011 are remaining now in home isolation.

“Meanwhile, the number of citizens who got the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine rose to 25,76,077, and among them, 15,12,702 got the second dose of the jab till Tuesday in the division,” Dr Islam added.

Talking to BSS, Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu expressed satisfaction over the consistently improving Covid-19 situation.

“Common people should sincerely abide by the health directives to prevent further spread of the deadly virus in the division,” he added.
