Covid-19 recovery rate crosses 94pc in Rangpur division

The recovery rate of Covid-19 patients has crossed the 94 percent mark in Rangpur division where no casualty was reported during the last 24 hours ending at 8 am today.

Talking to BSS, Focal Person of the Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr ZA Siddiqui said 75 more Covid-19 patients healed during the last 24 hours.

"With this, the number of healed patients rose to 51,562 at the average healing rate of 94.01 percent in the division," he said.

The 51,562 recovered patients include 10,697 of Rangpur, 3,461 Panchagarh, 4,297 of Nilphamari, 2,605 of Lalmonirhat, 4,491 of Kurigram, 6,968 of Thakurgaon, 14,268 of Dinajpur and 4,775 of Gaibandha districts in the division.

Meanwhile, the number of Covid-19 cases reached 54,845 with the diagnosis of 27 fresh cases after testing 785 new samples at the positivity rate of 3.44 percent on Saturday in the division.

Earlier, the daily positivity rates were 5.57 percent on Friday, 5.08 percent on Thursday, 3.89 percent on Wednesday, 5.84 percent on Tuesday, 5.95 percent on Monday and 7.06 percent on Sunday last in the division.

The district-wise break up of total 54,845 patients include 12,379 of Rangpur, 3,746 Panchagarh, 4,408 of Nilphamari, 2,728 of Lalmonirhat, 4,627 of Kurigram, 7,503 of Thakurgaon, 14,609 of Dinajpur and 4,845 of Gaibandha in the division.

"Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, a total of 2,78,237 collected samples were tested till Saturday, and of them, 54,845 were found positive with an average positivity rate of 19.71 percent in the division," Dr Siddiqui added.

Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam said the number of casualties remained steady at 1,230 as no new death was reported during the last 24 hours from the division.

"The district-wise breakup of the 1,230 fatalities stands at 291 in Rangpur, 80 in Panchagarh, 87 in Nilphamari, 66 in Lalmonirhat, 68 in Kurigram, 250 in Thakurgaon, 325 in Dinajpur and 63 in Gaibandha districts of the division.

The average casualty rate currently stands at 2.24 percent in the division.

Among the 54,845 Covid-19 patients, 105 are undergoing treatments at isolation units, including 10 critical patients each at ICU and High Dependency Unit beds, after recovery of 51,562 patients and 1,230 deaths while 1,948 are remaining now in home isolation.

"Meanwhile, the number of citizens who got the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine rose to 27,76,639, and among them, 16,25,686 got the second dose of the jab till Saturday in the division," Dr Islam added.

Talking to BSS, Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu expressed satisfaction over the improving Covid-19 situation.

"Despite the Covid-19 situation continues improving consistently, common people should remain aware and abide by the health directives, wear masks and maintain physical distance to prevent further spread of the deadly virus," he added.
