RMCH records three more fatalities at Covid-19 unit

Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) recorded three more fatalities at its Covid-19 unit in the last 24 hours till 6 am today, raising the death toll to 167 so far this month.

However, the previous day's fatality figure was two, while on the previous Thursday the death figure was just one which was the lowest-ever in the hospital since the second wave of the pandemic hit the country around six months back.

Earlier, the number of casualties was 340 in August, 566 in July and 405 in June, health officials said.

RMCH Director Brigadier General Dr Shamim Yazdani told newsmen that one of the deceased was the resident of Rajshahi, while one each from Natore and Naogaon. Of the afresh fatalities, two were male and the other female. Among the new fatalities, one tested positive for Covid-19, one had its symptoms and another had post-Covid-19 complexity.

Eight more patients were admitted to the designated Covid-19 wards of the hospital in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of admitted patients to 93.

Thirteen other patients returned home from the RMCH Covid-19 unit after being cured during the time.

Meanwhile, 21 more people were diagnosed with Covid-19 after testing 358 samples in Rajshahi's two laboratories on Wednesday, showing 6.45 percent positivity rate, which was 8.19 percent on Tuesday.
