Covid-19 cases climb to 98,311 with 22 afresh in Rajshahi

Twenty-two more people have tested positive for Covid-19 in five districts of the division on Friday, taking the caseload to 98,311 since the pandemic began in March last year.

However, the new fatality figure was lowest-ever since the second wave of the pandemic hit the country around six months back. Earlier the fatality figure was 30 on September 29, Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of Health, said.

Meanwhile, the recovery count rose to 94,193 in the division after another 23 patients were discharged from the hospitals on the same day.

The death toll reached 1,663, including 685 in Bogura, 313 in Rajshahi with 189 in its city, and 172 in Natore, as no fresh case of fatality was reported during the period, Dr Talukder added.

Besides, all the positive cases for Covid-19 have, so far, been brought under treatment while 22,742 were kept in isolation units of different dedicated hospitals for institutional supervision. Of them, 19,061 have been released.

Meanwhile, five more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 17 others were released from isolation during the same time.

Of the 22 new cases, seven were detected in Chapainawabganj, followed by six in Bogura, five in Sirajganj, three in Rajshahi city and one in Pabna districts.
