Journalist Sadeq Khan passes away

Ekushey Padak winning senior journalist Sadeq Khan passed away at his Baridhara in Dhaka home on Monday noon. He was serving as contributing editor the weekly Holiday.

Family members said Sadeq breaEkushey Padak winning senior journalist Sadeq Khan passed away at his Baridhara in Dhaka home on Monday noonthed last at around 12:30pm at his home. 

Born in 1936, Sadeq completed his hornours and masters in physics and chemnistry. He was among the organisers of 1952 language movement and langushed one month in jail. He also acted presidnet of the Dhaka city unit of East Pakistan Communist Party.

He served seveal newspapers begining with the Daily Sangbad as a sub editor. Sadeq Khan also played a key role in developing the country’s film industry and directed the acclaimed film Nadi O Nari.

He was the eldest son of former speaker of Pakistan, Abdul Jabbar Khan. Journalist Enayetyllah Khan, poet Abu Zafar Obidullah, civil aviation minister Rashed Khan Menon, BNP leader Selima Rahman and New Age publisher ASM Shahidullah Khan area his siblings.
