Apple boss Tim Cook joins the billionaires club

Apple CEO Tim Cook has ascended to the billionaire community as the share price of the tech firm continues to grow.

Apple's market cap has been growing as a result of good performance and the up-to - date outlook for tech giants.

Mr. Cook holds 847,969 shares directly and last year he took home more than $125 m ( £ 96 m) as part of his pay package.

Last week, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg saw his personal wealth reach $100 billion ( £ 76 billion).

Technology firms, including Apple , Facebook and Amazon, saw their revenues rise during the coronavirus pandemic as more people went online, BBC said.

Silicon Valley based Apple  is now closing in on the landmark of becoming the first company to be priced at $2tn. It was the first organization to be priced at $1tn two years ago.

Facebook Zuckerberg has made a similar promise to give away much of its shares.
