Tech entrepreneur Elon Musk says he has a "moderate case" of Covid-19 "most likely" but has been "seeking wildly different reports from various laboratories."

His symptoms were those of a "minor cold," tweeted by the boss of Tesla and SpaceX, who is 49. He said he was tested four times on Friday, with two positive and two negative outcomes.

When it first struck, Mr Musk seemed to play down fears about the pandemic.

Musk, who has 40 million Twitter followers, said he was "a little up & down" about his symptoms. It feels like a normal cold, but more than coughing/sneezing, body achy & blurry brain.

He challenged the veracity of rapid antigen testing on Friday, tweeting: "Something incredibly bogus is going on. Four times today were screened for covid. Two tests returned negative, two returned positive. Same computer, same lab, same nurse."

He said he was awaiting the results of PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests, which are regarded as the gold standard by epidemiologists and the one used most around the world, BBC reported.

Mr Musk's SpaceX firm is set to launch four astronauts to the International Space Station on Sunday. Nasa chief Jim Bridenstine on Friday ruled out the presence of anyone who tested positive for Covid-19 at the Kennedy Space Center.
