The visitors Zimbabwe arrived in Dhaka today for the three-match ODI and two-match Test series.
National cricketers of Bangladesh began their official preparation camp on Monday for the ODI and Test series against Zimbabwe which is slated to start from October 21.
Mashrafe will lead the Tigers in the ODI series while Mahmudullah Riyad has been named the stand-in captain for the Test side in absence of regular skipper Shakib Al Hasan, who is recovering from a severe finger injury.
The touring Zimbabwean side will have two days for preparation before they meet the hosts in a practice one dayer at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishthan in Savar.
The first ODI will be played at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur on October 21 and the rest two will be hosted by Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in port city Chattogram on October 24 and 26 respectively.
Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet will feature the two Tests which will begin on November 3 and November 11 respectively.
Earlier on Thursday, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) named a 15-member squad for the Zimbabwe series at home. As Bangladesh’s dependable opener Tamim Iqbal has been rested due to his injury from last Asia Cup and Shakib under rehabilitation programme, it was expected that the selectors might pick new faces against Zimbabwe. However, the board didn’t add any surprise in the squad except naming Fazle Mahmud Rabbi for the first time. The uncapped 30-year-old Fazle is a batting all-rounder who have flourished himself in domestic circuits for last couple of years.
