New Zealand beat Bangladesh by eight wickets in the first ODI of the three-match series at Napier on Wednesday.

Trent Boult’s 3-40 and Mitchell Santner’s 3-45 wrecked Bangladesh to 232 all out in 48.5 overs before chasing down the target in 44.3 overs for the loss of two wickets.

New Zealand batsman MJ Guptill scored 117 off 116 balls which featured 8 fours and 4 sixes.

Earlier, with a hard-fought 62 off 90 deliveries, Mohammad Mithun guided Bangladesh to 232/10 in 48.5 overs.

The Kiwi speedster Trent Boult (3/40) and left-arm orthodox bowler Mitchell Santner (3/45) bagged three wickets each while Matt Henry (2/48) and Lockie Ferguson (2/44) took two wickets each for the hosts.
