Awami League (AL) lawmaker Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh on early Friday called upon the authorities concerned not to send Bangladesh Cricket Team to Sri Lanka to attend a cricket tour.

“The BCB should not put the life of our Tigers at risk or in jeopardy. I urge all concerned to take necessary action,” he said.

He came up with the remarks through a post on his verified Facebook page.

The AL lawmaker said, “In April 2019, several innocent people, including my nephew Zayyan Chowdhury, were killed in terrorist attacks in Sri Lanka. Since then there have been many attacks on Muslims in Sri Lanka.”

Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh also claimed that the law and order situation in Sri Lanka is still very vulnerable. So, in this situation, BCB should not allow Bangladeshi cricketers to visit Sri Lanka.

Team Tigers are scheduled to set for Sri Lanka on tomorrow (July 20). In the Sri Lanka tour, Bangladesh will play three ODIs on July 26, 28 and 31 all in Colombo after a practice match on July 23.
