Bangladesh’s search for a successor to Steve Rhodes has ended through the appointment of Russell Domingo as head coach of the national cricket team.

Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hassan made the announcement on the appointment of Rhodes for two years at a news conference in Dhaka on Saturday.

The new coach will start working on August 21.

Earlier on August 7, the former South Africa coach Russell Domingo visited Dhaka to give an interview for a role as a coach of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

Domingo took over as the coach of South Africa T20 side in 2012 before he replaced Gary Kirsten in the remaining formats in 2013. He was in charge of the Proteas till 2017 before Otis Gibson took over in 2017.

BCB has already appointed former South Africa pacer Charl Langeveldt as the pace bowling coach of Bangladesh while Daniel Vettori was appointed the spin coach.
