Touring Bangladesh Under-19 Cricket team started their five-match Youth ODI series beating New Zealand Under-19 team by six wickets at Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Lincoln on Sunday.

The match started at 4:00 am (BdST). The remaining matches will be held on October 2, 6, 9 and 13, all at Bert Sutcliffe Oval.

The young Tigers bowled out New Zealand for only 176 runs in 48 overs. Fast bowlers Shoriful Islam and Mrittunjoy Chowdhury scalped three wickets and rattled down the New Zealand batting department.

In reply, Bangladesh chased down the target with six wickets in hand and 68 balls to spare. Skipper Akbar Ali led the team from front with his unbeaten 65 from 61 balls. He smashed 11 boundaries and took his side over the line.

This is for the first time that Bangladesh team is touring New Zealand after the terror attack in Christchurch last March, which forced premature end of Bangladesh and New Zealand series.
