Bangladesh Test skipper Mominul Haque has come up with support for head coach Russell Domingo’s suggestion of bringing up massive structural change to the country’s cricket in a bid to make them a force in the longer version format.

After the players’ disappointing performance in the Indore Test against India, Domingo insisted that a structural is needed at the moment for the survival of Bangladesh’s longer version cricket.

Domingo came up with the vision to change the system, cricket culture, format-based cricket and above the mentality of the players, which he though imperative now to do well in Test cricket.

Mominul Haque, who saw the tougher side of life on his captaincy debut, believes the structural change can work out for Bangladesh in the long run.

”If I have the chance to sit with the coach [for making plans of developing Test cricket by separating format based cricketers], I will sit because certainly it is a positive thing,” Mominul said here at Indore after his side’s humiliating innings and 130-run margin defeat to India at Holkar Stadium today.

”If that is the case [making those structural changes for developing Test cricket] we won’t be benefitted overnight as it will take some time. So we need to have patience,” he said.

He added that during the time of structural change, it is natural that the team will go through a transitional phase, which everyone should accept.

”We have to pass the time [transitional phase due to structural change] patiently,” he remarked. ”If the structural change is made by separating players for Test cricket then that will certainly work better because if you are thinking about only one format then you will try to stay in that [particular]format and automatically those things[ how to excel in that format] will come into your mind,” he said.

”I think that should be the way but it will take some time,” he opined.
