Paceman Umesh Yadav took five wickets as India thrashed Bangladesh on Sunday in just over two days of its first day-night test to sweep the 2-0 series.

In less than an hour of the first session on day three in Kolkata, Bangladesh was bowled out for 195 as India prevailed by an innings and 46 runs to mark their 12th consecutive Test series win on home soil.

It was a memorable international pink-ball debut for India, which became the only team to win by an innings margin four consecutive tests.

For three straight series wins, Virat Kohli's side— who has now won seven tests in a row— secured their top position in the world test championship.

Before falling to Yadav, Mushfiqur Rahim made a valiant 74, and the innings soon folded as Mahmudullah did not return to bat after retiring hurt on day two on day 39.

India required 8.4 overs to wrap up Sunday afternoon's match at Eden Gardens with Yadav taking all three wickets.

Ishant Sharma led the pace charge to flatten the Bangladesh batting with outstanding match figures of 9-78 that dropped for 106 in their opening day's first innings.

With his 136 in India's 347, Kohli played a key role for nine declared on Saturday as they managed a 241 run lead.

In the final session on day two, when Mushfiqur resisted India's persistent pace attack, the tourists were in early trouble at 13 for four.

For nought, Ishant caught Shadman Islam lbw and then claimed skipper Mominul Haque, who had a pair of ducks.

As one of his rising deliveries struck Mohammad Mithun on the helmet, the spearhead quickie, who took five wickets in the first innings, bowled at a lively pace.

In Mehidy Hasan and Taijul Islam, Bangladesh was forced to take two substitutes for Liton Das and Nayeem Hasan who were struck by Shami on the helmet on the first day.

Mushfiqur was also at Yadav's nasty hit's receiving end but went on to play a fighting knock.

Kohli ended his 27th century before crashing off Ebadat Hossain to a spectacular grab by Taijul.

India claimed the opening test within three days as well as the previous series 2-1 of the Twenty20.
