Dipu bags first gold for Bangladesh

In the ongoing 13th South Asian Games, Dipu Chakma secured the country's first gold medal as he won the 29-plus-year taekwondo poomsae event at Satdobato in Lalitpur, Nepal on Monday.

Dipu scored 16.24 points from Rangamati, beating opponents from Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, and Nepal to bag the gold medal.

Lakshman IIandarige from Sri Lanka won silver at 8.22 points to his name while Gangphung Gangsa from India won the bronze at 8.14 points.

Earlier, when Humayra Akter won Bronze at the Women's Single Karate event, Bangladesh won the first medal. Pakistan won the Gold in that event, and Silver was secured by Nepal.
